Coming to our stages: Little Women & Legally Blonde!

After a spectacular Spooktacula at the Staten Island Zoo, it was time to turn the Wagner Theater Program’s attention to this year’s productions.  First up, in January, will be the Broadway musical version of Louisa May Alcott’s American classic, Little Women.   This production will be the first time we’ve presented a musical in our Black Box Theater.  Seating in the Black Box is limited, so when tickets go on sale in early December, get them fast!

Our second production this year, on our Main Stage in the school Auditorium, will be the 2007 Broadway hit, Legally Blonde.  Tickets for Legally Blonde will go on sale in February.   Tickets for both shows will be $15.00 (plus a small credit card charge for online purchases); Wagner High School students can purchase one ticket for their own use for $12.00.

Little WLTG_Little_Womenomen:

Louisa May Alcott’s American classic this Civil War story of love and family stands the test of time.

Produced nationally and internationally, Little Women has been praised by critics for its ambition in adapting such a well-known story for the stage. This timeless captivating story is brought to life in this glorious musical filled with personal discovery, heartache, hope, and everlasting love. The original production starred the unparalleled Sutton Foster, who received TONY, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama Desk nominations for her performance.

Based on Louisa May Alcott’s life, Little Women, follows the adventures of sisters Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March. Jo is trying to sell her stories for publication, but the publishers are not interested – her friend Professor Bhaer tells her that she has to do better and write more from herself. Begrudgingly taking this advice, Jo weaves the story of herself and her sisters and their experience growing up in Civil War America.

Little Women embodies the complete theatrical experience, guaranteeing a night filled with laughter, tears, and a lifting of the spirit.  The powerful score soars with the sounds of personal discovery, heartache and hope — the sounds of a young America finding its voice.
